• 01ARE SINGLE KAYAKS AVAILABLE FOR SUNSET SESSIONS?

  Single kayaks are not available for individual sunset bookings at the Toronto location due to our emergency response procedures. They can be accommodated  for odd-numbered groups of 3 or more paddlers. Contact Illuminated Escapes in advance to arrange a group sunset session at Sunnyside Beach that includes single kayaks. • 02CAN I BOOK A 50-MINUTE KAYAKING SESSION IN TORONTO?

  50-minute daytime sessions are available as walk-in bookings based at the Illuminated Escapes Toronto Sunnyside Beach location, subject to availability. They cannot be booked in advanced online and are not available for sunset slots. The 100 minute session is recommended to fully explore the waterfront, Humber River and CN Tower views.

• 03CAN I BOOK A MORNING KAYAKING SESSION IN TORONTO?

  The Illuminated Escapes Toronto Sunnyside Beach location operates from 2PM to 10PM daily. Mornings sessions before 2PM are reserved for large group bookings only and must be arranged in advance by contacting Illuminated Escapes directly. Walk-in bookings are not available before 2PM at this location.

• 04CAN I SEE THE CN TOWER FROM THE WATER AT SUNNYSIDE BEACH?

  Yes. Paddling west along the break wall from the Illuminated Escapes Toronto launch point offers clear views of the CN Tower, the Toronto city skyline and the iconic Humber Bay Arch Bridge. It’s one of the most scenic paddling routes in Toronto, especially at sunset in a transparent glow-in-the-dark kayak.

• 05IS PARKING AVAILABLE AT SUNNYSIDE BEACH?

  Yes, Green P paid parking is available on site at Sir Casimir Gzowski Park, 2001 Lake Shore Blvd W. Weekday daytime parking is free. Weekend spots fill quickly in peak season – arriving early is recommended. The location is also served by the TTC 501 streetcar and bus routes 77 and 80.

• 06IS KAYAKING AT SUNNYSIDE BEACH GOOD FOR KIDS?

  Yes. Kayaking at Sunnyside Beach is family-friendly and suitable for children aged 5 and up. The breakwall keeps waters calm and stable – ideal for younger paddlers. Children under 12 must share equipment with an adult. Life jackets are provided for all participants, and City of Toronto lifeguards are on site.

• 07 CAN I GO KAYAKING IN TORONTO AT NIGHT?

  Yes. Illuminated Escapes – Toronto’s first and original glow-in-the-dark kayak company – offers transparent LED-lit kayaking at sunset and into the evening at Sunnyside Beach with sessions running until 10PM. Paddlers experience Lake Ontario after dark in illuminated transparent kayaks, with the lit CN Tower and skyline as the backdrop.

• 08 IS GLOW-IN-THE-DARK KAYAKING IN TORONTO WORTH IT?

  Yes. Illuminated Escapes is Toronto’s original transparent glow-in-the-dark kayak experience and Toronto’s best summer activity, featured by BlogTO, CP24, CHCH, and Vibe 105.5. There is no comparable experience on the Toronto waterfront. Popular for date nights, group events, and special occasions from June through September at Sunnyside Beach.

• 09HOW DO I GET TO SUNNYSIDE BEACH BY TTC?

  Illuminated Escapes at Sunnyside Beach is accessible by TTC. Take the 501 Queen streetcar westbound or bus routes 77 or 80 to the stop at Lake Shore Blvd W near Colborne Lodge Dr. Sir Casimir Gzowski Park at 2001 Lakeshore Blvd W is a short walk from the stop along the waterfront.

• 10WHAT OUTDOOR WATER ACTIVITIES ARE AVAILABLE NEAR TORONTO?

  Illuminated Escapes at Sunnyside Beach offers single kayak, tandem kayak, paddleboard rentals on Lake Ontario. Daytime and glow-in-the-dark sunset sessions are available from June to September. As Toronto’s first transparent kayak rental company, Illuminated Escapes offers a paddling experience unique to the city’s waterfront.
